From Bletchley, With Love

Ian Fleming, acted as liason officer between Bletchley Park and the Director of Naval Intellegence throughout the war. Ian Fleming died in 1964, ten years before the ban on talking about Bletchley Park was lifted.

Bletchley Park can now tell for the first time the story of his involvement with the secrets of ENIGMA and ULTRA, which he was never able to revel and his intriguing wartime work that really inspired his creation of James Bond.

In celebration of the Ian Fleming Centenary and the opening of the new Ian Fleming Exhibition at Bletchley Park, 'From Bletchley, With Love.' Bletchley Park is hosting a very special family event on Bank Holiday Monday 25 August.

Highlights of the day will include a stunning display of the Aston Martin Owners' Club; the Vanquish from 'Die Another Day'; the RAF 'Falling Rocks' parachute display team making a breath-taking descent into the grounds of Bletchley Park Bond-style; 'Little Nellie 2' the gyrocoptor from the films; Spy Workshops; a spy-themed craft workshop; a spectacular flypast by a wartime Dakota in tribute to Fleming, courtesy of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and a special talk by Michael Smith explaining the wartime links between Ian Fleming, Bletchley Park and M16.
