Why Milton Keynes?

Milton Keynes is internationally renowned for being a designed new town, the largest and most ambitious project in the UK, created in 1967 under the New Towns Act. Milton Keynes was awarded official city status as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

Situated approximately fifty miles from London, the city boasts excellent transportation links, with a mere 35-minute train ride to London Euston and convenient access to road networks and air travel, facilitated by the proximity of Luton Airport, less than 20 miles away under 20 miles away and Heathrow and Birmingham Airports both within an hour's drive.

The only UK city designed and purpose-built with business growth in mind, the city is already home to global brands and future innovators. It’s an economic hotspot, attracting amazing businesses from small start-ups to multi nationals including banking giant Santander’s global campus and Oracle Red Bull Racing’s high-tech HQ.

Milton Keynes is thriving, with an economy larger than the economies of Oxford and Cambridge combined, and larger than that of Cardiff.

With a particular focus on the technology, finance, logistics and professional services, Milton Keynes offers dynamic infrastructure to support these growing sectors.

Milton Keynes is a truly international city. Just over a third of our nearly 300,000 residents are from an ethnically diverse background. We are proud of our reputation for being a welcoming, inclusive city where everyone can feel at home.

The city is well-positioned for continued growth and development in the years ahead.

This is Milton Keynes. Better by Design.
